Gameplay Plans
2026-09-03
Spoilers ahead! Proceed at your own risk.
First important note: The second season will be using Pathfinder 2e instead of D&D.
Structure
The plan is to, upon the players' arrival at home base, give them a physical map of the galactic core. This has fuel numbers on it, and the Storm Chaser's limited fuel tank will therefore impose limits on the PC's exploration.
They are, however, completely free to choose where to go on said galaxy map. Now most (but not all) of the systems there will have important plot elements. The rest will have important macguffins (to bring back to home base for loot) and loot.
Characters in the home base will ask the PCs to go to specific places, both for their own gain (improving the home base) and in return for powerful gear, runes, et cetera. Think the legendary weapons from Baldur's Gate 3 for inspiration here - not just random stuff lying around, stuff with more of a story to it.
Ship combat
Make sure to check out the Starfinder 2e ship combat. link to Archive of Nethys; also try to read the actual book, Tech Core.
Other
In terms of enemies and combat and stuff, I have some options. I can make more Remnants (see enemies) and update old ones to Pathfinder; this would work particularly well for turning story characters into bossfights (for instance, the final boss could be a corrupted remnant version of Shuri and Calli). Another option is to say that the blacksphere made it much easier for hell demons to turn up everywhere. This is true, but only because there's no-one left to fight them back so they just get free reign. Also pepper in some non-hell monsters.
Loot
Cool magic items and weapons:
- piston gauntlets (probably eeta)
- obsidian edge (idk)
- spark dancer (idk)
- rowan rifle
